Leela has two specialties:
Leela Sinha has been coaching people informally for years: through high school and college, with friends, in coffeeshops, in late-night conversations. She worked in IT and coached people while she repaired laptops and resurrected hard drives, and then she went to seminary and trained in ministry.
She loves working with the church but realized early that her style was different from that of most of her colleagues; that there is a subtle space between traditional parish ministry and what she does. It is effective, but more challenging, more direct, more flexible. Most of all, it requires a partnership--she expects the congregant or congregation or client to choose a direction and then move forward with it. She sees her role as leader, cheerleader, and guide, and understands that true forward motion always comes from the congregation or the client. These are exciting--and nearly uncharted--waters.
But coaching provides a powerful model for just this kind of work. One day she discovered it and has never looked back. Within months she began her training with the Coaches Training Institute and is currently working through their program. Her current goal is certification to make her a stronger coach: for herself, for her clients, and for her churches.
